The lamps in the room emit a nice warm setting, we sat comfortably as she gently nibbled the inside of her lips while contemplating her decision. As her eyes scanned the air I could sense that she was the analytical type, which made sense considering she had spent 20 plus years in a lab as a histologist.
Throughout life it has proven more virutous and rewarding to take a moment to consider the insignificant coincidences that approach us in our life journeys. Here I am, a licensed medical massage therapist with thousands of hours spend studying anatomy, physiology, bio-mechanics, kinesiology (the study of movement), nutrition and much more, with the honor of working with a scientist that was well decorated in her studies of our largest organ, our skin. Too cool.
"Alright, I'm going to go with the treatment package and see how we do in 3 months." she said after weighing all of her considering factors.
Whenever I interact with my patients, or "my people", there is absolutely no pressure to proceed with a treatment unless they believe it is right for them. That's why I don't charge a dime for consultations. It's quite simple really, medical massage addresses the root cause of symptoms that we feel in our bodies. On the contrary to opiates and over the counter NSAID's, medical massage provides us an alternative to medicine to correct such symptoms so that we can live at a higher level of quality of life.
"Fantastic, then let's make the most out of our time that we have today and get to work." I replied as I began to exit the room, giving my patient a moment of privacy to get comfortable on the table while I washed my hands in preparation for the session.
You see, all medical professionals serve their roles in different avenues under the umbrella of "health care." We all specialize in different areas of study and believe it or not, an educated licensed massage therapist spends well over 900+ more hours on their anataomy and physiology studies then the average M.D. or D.O. does in all 8 years of their schooling and residencies.
M.D.'s & D.O.'s specialize in medicines and are equipt with perscription pads, chiropractors specialize in our skeletal structure and nervous system, so on and so forth. Depending on the massage therapist, they may specialize in one heck of a relaxing experience that aided us in quality rest, or they may specialize in biomechanics, sports medicine, Muscle Energy Techniques which are equivalent and identical to MAT(TM) techniques which physical therapists utilize in treatment.
You deserve to know these details in your search for solutions and if you are reading this far into this blog then I know one thing for certain, you are searching for a solution or answer to your root problem.
I invite you to search no further and to navigate to scheduling a free consultation with me to see if medical massage is right for you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain in doing so and I await with positivity to hear from you.
Oh, and if you're wondering about our friend, the histologist mentioned earlier in this blog... rest assured, she is to this day a regular patient of my practice, and in the best hands (literally) that anyone could ask for.
Thank you for reading. -Thomas
